Next Steps Once Your Priority Date is Current

Congratulations! If your priority date is now current, itโ€™s time to take the next steps toward your green card.

  • Review your priority date and category on the latest Visa Bulletin.
  • Prepare required documents (passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, I-130/I-140 receipt notices, etc.).
  • File your adjustment of status (I-485) or follow instructions for consular processing.
  • If consular processing, wait for your NVC invoice and case ID to log in.
  • Schedule your medical exam and collect supporting forms (Form DS-260 for consular processing).
  • Contact NVC/USCIS if you have questions about your case status.
  • Keep copies of all correspondence and submission receipts.

  • Confirm your priority date is listed as โ€œCurrentโ€ on the Visa Bulletin.
  • Prepare Form I-485 package with supporting evidence.
  • Include required civil documents (passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.).
  • Submit I-693 Medical Examination (or bring to your interview).
  • Pay filing fees and submit to USCIS.
  • Attend biometrics appointment once scheduled.
  • Wait for USCIS interview notice and final decision.

  • Confirm your priority date is listed as โ€œCurrentโ€ on the Visa Bulletin.
  • Wait for NVC welcome letter with your Case ID and Invoice Number.
  • Log in to CEAC Portal.
  • Pay the required immigrant visa and affidavit of support fees.
  • Complete and submit Form DS-260 (Immigrant Visa Application).
  • Upload civil documents (passport, birth certificate, police certificate, marriage certificate, etc.).
  • Schedule and attend your medical exam.
  • Attend your consular interview abroad.
  • Receive immigrant visa โ†’ Enter U.S. โ†’ Receive green card in mail.

She truly enjoys making an impact within her own community by educating and providing resources to those around her. Within the last year, Shakira has worked towards combining her passion for marketing and legal services.

Rachel oversees our Family, Immigration and Tax Department. She also has extensive knowledge on other legal procedures and practices. Her management experience coupled with her legal academia make her role in Paralegals for the Community that much more lucrative.

Swannie brings 18 years of Paralegal experience to the team. From having worked at the United States Attorneyโ€™s Office, she assisted senior agents in enforcing the collection of criminal and civil debts owed to the United States to Binder & Binder, P.C., helping individuals get their SSI and SSD benefits granted by writing persuasive briefs. Swannie also worked at places like Bronx Housing Court assisting families with housing applications, and provided housing search, and rent stabilization support to homeless and at-risk families with children. From 6 years, she worked at a Personal Injury firm, she worked extensively in a wide variety of branches within personal injury such as asbestos litigation, pre-litigation motor vehicle and lead paint poisoning.ย  Swannie currently is the head of Operations, and runs the Bankruptcy and Estate Planning Departments in PFTC.
